Remembering Christine Dickerson
March 14, 1984 – December 11, 2002
Christine Dickerson was a Rochez Academy dancer who was taken suddenly in a car accident after finishing her final exams from her first semester in college at the University of Buffalo. She was so dear to Eilis as well as her family and friends.
Eilis writes:
“To know her is to love her” would put it simply. Chrisy is still impacting my life and the way I view the world. At the start and finish of each dance class I look at a picture of her and remember how precious life is and how much we have to appreciate life for what it is right now. I am so thankful for what I have and the people in my life that my cup is overflowing.
When I look at my children, I hope that they can be like the gentle, kind, compassionate and talented person Chrisy was. She was a beautiful young lady on the inside and out. A person everyone went to for advice or a shoulder to lean on in my teams. She had an infectious smile I never will forget. She always wanted to be her best so she wouldn’t let the other team members down. She taught me that if you love what you do you endure the winning and losing as well as the pain and glory. I know that Chrisy will always be close to my heart. I see her smile and feel her kindness in so many of my dancers.
I thank Jim and Sue Dickerson for raising such an amazing daughter and for allowing me to teach Chrisy Irish dance. She in turn has taught me much more about life"
Each year a scholarship is awarded in memory of Chrisy Dickerson to a senior dancer who best exemplifies the qualities of optimism and compassion that were Chrisy’s lasting gifts to her family and friends.
